    “Sharing the Road–Together”

November 7, 2010 — WE are at a crossroads. Perhaps as never before, WE can go forward toward creating a more peaceful and just world, or backward into even more chaos. WE are no longer able to isolate our actions. What WE do impacts not only our families, communities and nation; it impacts our world. Never before has interdependence been challenged as it is today. Terrorism, and threat of terror, is the enemy that can divide us even more deeply. How? Not by acts of terror, but by causing distrust and fear. This must be our greater concern, even greater than fear for our personal safety.

The following was taken from our new book:

Celebrate Diversity! A Guide for Community, School, and Organizational Empowerment. This is a must-read as its message is essential for our times!! (Available at https://www.humanempowerment.org/celebrate_diversity.html.)

“The events of 9/11 crystallized for Sue Kidd Shipe, Ph.D., the belief that we must unite as peoples of the United States, and indeed of the world, against those who seek to destroy our freedoms. The beautiful diversity that we share was challenged, making us fearful, and causing us to begin to close our hearts to those whom we might have trusted.

We have a choice. We can be afraid of anyone different from ourselves, look out only for ourselves, and live so that only the fittest survive. We can allow terrorism to win by shutting ourselves down.

Or, we can decide in our hearts and minds that humanity is one family with many beautiful expressions of color, language, and customs. We can say that we will honor all those lost, and those who mourn, by declaring that we will unite toward a True Democracy– where all are equal, and all are free!

The choice is one we each will make.

Children need our leadership away from images of fear and messages of hate, to commitment to peace and unity. This is why we need to commemorate and celebrate September 11 annually as “International Unity Day” in our schools and communities. We need to build our educational curricula upon themes of diversity while ensuring equality in every area for children and adults. This is how we prepare our children to live in a world where they will work and live with many people who do not look like them, and who have different customs and beliefs.

Join us, wherever you are, and whatever you do. You have power. You have the power to make positive change. Let’s eliminate the walls that divide us, and create the equality and peace we need.

Celebrate Diversity! was written to enhance existing diversity programs or help begin a new one. It will guide us as we begin to explore this wonderful voyage. But it’s far more than a program; it’s a way of living.

We can do nothing and allow terrorism to divide us. Or, we can take steps, small or large, to begin this healing journey.

    The choice is ours.
    The time is now.
It may be our only chance.

Let’s start before it is too late!”

We need your help! In this environment of financial unease, nor-for-profits are going into debt, and having difficulty surviving. We are no different. We took a risk and borrowed money in order to be able to publish Celebrate Diversity! and bring its message to teachers, administrators, corporate leaders, leaders of community organizations, and others. Please support the mission of the International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc., by donating in order that we can continue to provide low and no-cost products so that no one is left out. Thank you!

No donation is too small. Your help is needed and deeply appreciated.

We also are in need of grants from those who share our mission of “empowering all people toward basic human rights including quality education, healthcare, food, and a peaceful and loving environment.”

Your donation helps us provide our books and reports to schools and community organizations.

Our mission is in jeopardy without your support!
Please make us one of your charities of choice!

    Thank you.

“Celebrate! with gratitude, and confidence, in our ability to change the world! Peace.”
    Sue Kidd Shipe, Ph.D.
    Executive Director
