• 73rd International Peace Meditation “Following the Peace Within”

    “Following the Peace Within”

January 5, 2003–Welcome to the 73rd celebration of the International Peace Meditation.

The 73rd International Peace Meditation is dedicated to all those who strive for freedom, peace, and unity. May they know the power of love, the joy of freedom, and the serenity of peace. And may we, who enjoy the fruits of freedom won by the lives of those who went before us, never forget. May this also be a meditation of gratitude for those who paid the ultimate price.

Our message is a message of peace–the internal peace that comes from following that which we know is right. All people yearn to be empowered. But, as has been found historically when the oppressed rise up against the oppressor, there is often a terrible price to be paid for freedom.

The International Peace Meditation is beginning it’s seventh year. We began as a small group meeting in a home, meditating together, reflecting, and praying for peace. We have grown to a mailing list of approximately 500, and a web site that reaches internationally to those who live within democracies, and those who do not.

We continuously invite everyone to join, regardless of religious or spiritual beliefs. All are welcome. There are no boundaries when it comes to accessing spiritual power and promoting peace. Please join us in prayer and meditation from wherever you happen to be during the 24 hours of January 5, 2003, and again on the first Sunday of every month. Join us here in e-mail, or on our web site at www.humanempowerment.org for an inspirational message. Invite your houses of worship, religious and spiritual groups, governmental organizations, families, friends, and all others to join with us. Forward this e-mail to all on your lists. Continue to expand our human empowerment community online and by regular mail. Include everyone who will join.

This year the Institute has had visits to our web site from many countries, some of whom are in the process of becoming democracies. Our message of freedom, equality, peace, and hope are sent to inspire all of us toward greater spiritual and personal freedom and responsibility.

As we welcome in the New Year and anticipate the blessings of the spiritual power we seek, let us do so in the awareness that we are part of a powerful international community. The internet has the capability to be a democratizing tool, and the influence of the Institute is expanding. The following demonstrates that we have the capacity to join with others from many countries to access the power of meditation and prayer for each other, ourselves, and our world. Learning about our outreach gives us an appreciation for how this message of peace is spreading around the world.
