Unity Day Sample Proclamation

PROCLAMATION

– Whereas, the world is comprised of a multitude of races, ethnicities, spiritual beliefs, and cultures,

– Whereas, in the course of living together on this planet, there have been hosts of wars and divisions based upon these characteristics,

– Whereas, these characteristics, viewed worldwide, make up a beautiful cultural and linguistic diversity of which we should be proud,

– Whereas, the peoples of the world collaborate to bring about uniform policies and goals through such organizations as the United Nations,

– Whereas, it is to the benefit of all that we live peacefully together on this planet,

– Whereas, by living peacefully, we can better attend to issues, such as healthcare, education, and the environment that affect us all,

– Whereas, the development of those policies that address common issues such as healthcare, education, and the environment are best addressed collaboratively in ways that serve all people,

– Whereas, the International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc. desires to take a positive leadership role toward the advancement of collaboration in those areas that affect all people,

– Whereas, the International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc. is comprised of all who desire peace, equality, and true justice for all people,

– Whereas the International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc., a not-for profit, 501 (c)(3) organization, collects no dues, but includes as its membership all people who desire, and will work toward, a true democracy, and

– Whereas, We, the People, do hereby adopt and affirm the following:

Unity Pledge

   We welcome the advent of the new Millennium. We will meet its challenge by first acknowledging that our planet is rich with diversity, but one in humanity. Together we pledge that we will support only the programs and legislation that elevate all people toward equality. We desire to live in peace with our brothers and sisters internationally, and will work toward equity of opportunity in every area of our lives. We celebrate our commitment to improving international relations by living peacefully while sharing active concern for those less fortunate. Together we unite in our desire to end oppression, hunger, and poverty by seeking educational opportunities, including access to technology, for all.

*   do hereby proclaim September 11, INTERNATIONAL UNITY DAY, to be celebrated the 11th day of September every year,

*   do hereby adopt the Unity Pledge, and

*   do hereby initiate activities that support commitment to quality education, including access to internet technology, for all.
